Dismissal First Day of School...
It would be helpful if you email Mrs. Locke (llocke@westerly.k12.ri.us) before the first day of school of your child's dismissal plan if your child will NOT be riding their assigned bus home. If your child attends a afterschool daycare, please email me informing me of what days your child attends and the name of the daycare. If your child is going to be a walker or parent pick-up also please notify me by email. Be prepared to show identification if your child is a parent pick-up until the staff is confident they can identify you by name.

A change for the 15-16 school year. All students not following their normal dismissal home, a parent or guardian will be required to send in a dismissal note. Please do not call the school to change dismissal unless it is unavoidable or an emergency. We appreciate your cooperation.
PLEASE CALL
for an appointment if you are new to the area and would like to schedule a tour of our school. Please be prepared to present your id, the area in which you will be moving to and the grade level of your child/ren. All appointments will be scheduled through Mrs. Locke. She can be reached at 401-348-2298 or by email llocke@westerly.k12.ri.us
OPEN HOUSE

Meal Charge Policy 2800
There has been a change in the district’s “Meal Charge Policy (2800)” and it will be effective on Monday, April 27. Here are the highlights and you may access the entire policy on the district’s website.
  • Student wanting a lunch and not having money to purchase a lunch will be allowed to charge a lunch with repayment within (2) school days.
  • Once a student has charged a total of $10.00 and no payment has been received, the student will receive a lunch consisting of a cheese sandwich, fruit, and milk. This takes the place of a full hot lunch. You will be charged full price for this lunch and the cost will be added to your negative account.
  • Any negative account balances of more than $10.00 will be forwarded to the Food Service Vendor and building principals. Families will be notified and you will have 10 days to pay or make payment plans.
  • Please submit a free/reduced lunch application if it is needed. It is also suggested that use the online program, www.myschoolbucks.com to make and confirm payments and monitor the account activity.
  • Parents are expected to pay the final bill at the end of the school year. No amounts will be carried over.
Think Warm!
As a reminder, a decorum of modesty and appropriateness necessary for the educational environment is required. Please no sleeveless undershirts, spaghetti straps and flip flops.
REMINDERS
Please record your child’s name on the tag of all outerwear. We have collected many items which are currently located in the "lost box" outside the gymnasium.

Students must wear sneakers with socks on the days they are scheduled to have physical education class. Failure to wear or bring to school sneakers will prevent a child from participating in PE class.

We do not have the staff to supervise children before 8:25 AM. Please avoid delivering students before 8:25.

Students who enter the school building after 8:45 AM are considered tardy and must report to the Main Office by a parent or caregiver.

We do not celebrate holidays or birthdays with food. We appreciate the intention, but please refrain from sending in food to share with your child’s classmates.
